After 5 years of planning and construction, the Chik-Wauk
Museum and Nature Center is opening to the public. It is
located just a few miles from us on Saganaga Lake and will
make a fascinating visit for all. Dioramas and displays have
all been professional designed, over 70 custom touch screen
videos tell of many pioneer families and all the resorts along
the Gunflint Trail, plus displays on the native Americans, the
Voyageurs, the loggers, miners, and first white settlers. On
the museum grounds there are several trails—for birding,
wild flowers, moose pond viewing, and a BWCA trail.
The Grand Opening will be on July 4th and it will be a
wonderful day. The agenda includes a Native American youth
dance team from Grand Portage, Voyageur canoes for short
rides, a fascinating talk by Bud Sivertson, light snacks and
much more. This will be like a community barn raising with
everyone coming to enjoy the event.
Includes: 3 nights accommodations, 3 dinners, canoes and
our guided naturalist programs
