Our community is blessed with several quality museums,
each with a different focus. We have the Chik-Wauk Museum
and Nature Center here on the Gunflint Trail focusing on
the area's history from the prehistoric peoples to the current
residents. Nearby, Grand Portage has two features—their
welcoming center to the Grand Portage National Monument
and the visitor center/museum at High Falls. They feature the heritage of the local native Americans. Thirdly, there is the Tofte Fishing Museum, with a focus on the pioneers along the north shore of Lake Superior and their fishing heritage.
We lead trips to all three of these facilities on the two
middle days of this package. Our head naturalist will lead
a caravan of cars, so at the end of the day you can linger in
Grand Marais with your own car if something catches your
fancy.
