This is a beautiful time of the year for hiking the various
scenic trails—there are few other visitors, it is after the bug
season, there are open vistas to scout for moose and other
wildlife, and usually this is before the snows come so the
hiking is easy.
The Laurentian highlands of the Gunflint area are filled
with hiking trails—from easy and short, to full day trips.
Right from the back of the lodge we have the trail to Lonely
Lake, to the High Cliffs, to the hidden path, to the Highlands,
to the West End and to River Run. Within a few miles of
Gunflint we have the Kekakabic Trail, the Centennial Trail,
the trail to Blueberry Hill and the Magnetic Rock Trail.
Moving a bit further afield, there is the Honeymoon Bluff
Trail, the Caribou Rock Trail, the Border Route Trail and the
South Lake Trail.
Our 5 night package includes a lakeside fireplace cabin, all
meals (we pack lunches if you would like to be out for the
day), one ½ hour massage per person, a canoe, and all our
guided naturalist programs.
