This special weekend is in recognition of the first anniversary of the Ham Lake Fire,
which started May 5, 2007, and burned 75,851 acres in Canada and the U.S.A. at the end of the Gunflint Trail. The Gunflint Green Up will bring folks of all ages together for a weekend of education, tree planting, and a food and music elebration. On Friday there will be Boreal
forest talks and walks, and a presentation by enowned wilderness photographer Layne
Kennedy. On Saturday volunteers will plant 75,000 Red and White Pine seedlings in the
Superior National Forest along the Gunflint Trail. We are expecting more than 500 people from around Minnesota to join us in planting the future forest for the next generation. After the tree planting is finished there will be a dance with live music. When booking this package at Gunflint Lodge you will still be required to register for the tree planting at
www.GunflintGreenUp.com. Registering for the event you will receive tickets to the Friday and Saturday evening buffets, a commemorative t-shirt, and participation in our historic first-annual Gunflint Green Up tree planting.
