Gunflint Outfitters and Gunflint Lodge, provide top notch service that no other BWCA outfitter can provide. Our full-service resort is to your disposal for you to take advantage of our offerings. Treat yourself to a delicious “Last Supper” the night before you head out, enjoy a hearty breakfast before you head out on your wilderness adventure, or cap off your trip with a delicious, mouth-watering meal at Justine’s. We aim to make your trip the best it can possibly be.
With over 90 years in the business, our committed and knowledgeable staff will take you through each step of the way, from your first phone call to discuss what kind of a BWCA experience you would like to have, to transporting you to any entry point on this side of the BWCA to picking you up at your takeout point. Whether you are a novice canoer or an expert wilderness traveler, Gunflint Outfitters is the foremost outfitter on the Gunflint Trail and we can meet all of your needs.
We are located on a border lake (Canada is across the lake!) adjacent to the famed Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness , so you have the choice of several nearby canoe routes to explore and paddle. Our expert outfitters will take the time to learn from you what your skill level is and what kind of a trip you would like to do (travel every day, catch fish, base camp, see wildlife. . .). This kind of one on one service will ensure a BWCA trip that you will remember for a lifetime!

Lodging & Facilities
We have bunk houses suitable for a night before or after your canoe trip (accommodating from 4 to 9 people), and a group of canoer cabins for something more comfortable. Just bring your own sleeping bag or blankets and towels. 24 hour access to indoor bathroom facilities. Pets allowed with a $25 per pet, per night fee.
The canoer cabins are nicely paneled and insulated, and have one room with a double and a twin bunk plus a set of bunk beds. Just bring your own sleeping bag or blankets and towels. They have heat, a ceiling fan, microwave and refrigerator, a screened in porch and an outside picnic table with BBQ grill. Pets allowed with a $25 per pet, per night fee.
Outfitting & Bathroom Facilities
Our main outfitting building has a reception and routing area, a gift shop including a good assortment of fishing lures, a food and equipment packing area, and large shower and toilet areas. Behind the scenes are equipment cleaning areas, a walk-in cooler, washers and dryers, and trip packing areas. There are also racks of PFD vests and paddles for you to pick from. Outside we have a large parking lot accommodating cars, vans, trailers, and buses. Adjacent to our vans and trailers are the canoe cleaning and loading areas.
